Update: we are closely monitoring the situation and will make a decision no later than June 15th about whether we can offer the event in a manner that will be enjoyable to all, within the safety guidelines for gatherings of this size, and not place participants at a foreseeable health risk from the virus. Should we determine that it would be in the best interests of those attending to cancel the event, a full refund will be given.
The Genderfuul retreat is an affirming retreat where trans, non-binary & agender UUs can build community with each other. From nature walks to spiritual discussions and crafts, we hope that each person is able to relax and connect with the sacredness of being genderful. Our chaplain understands trans and non-binary issues and speaks inclusively (i.e. doesn't use phrases like "men and women of the church" or "brothers and sisters" as if they include everyone). Our chaplain will foster an environment where everyone is encouraged to acknowledge and value the wide variety of identities, experiences, feelings, vocabulary and traumas that come with existing in an often oppressively gendered world.
In addition to discussions, crafts, meals and lodging, the weekend will include swimming in the UBarU stock tank pool, walking the labyrinth, resting and renewing your body and spirit.
Cost is $150 and there are scholarships available. Please register using the link below. If you need financial assistance in order to attend, please let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org as we have done specific fundraising in order to provide assistance. Carpooling can be facilitated to help folks with transportation to/from camp.
The retreat will begin after 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon Aug 7 and will conclude on Sunday morning, Aug. 9. We try to accommodate dietary restrictions/allergies and invite you to bring any food you particularly want to have for the weekend. We have refrigerator space and a microwave available for use in addition to the meals provided.
