Where We're Located

UBarU Camp & Retreat Center is located at 277 UBarU Drive in Gillespie County, which is approximately 125 miles west of Austin in the scenic Texas Hill Country. It is located in the Southwest corner of Gillespie County and contains the second highest elevation in Gillespie County. The highest elevation is on the property contiguous to UBarU. The following directions will get you to the “ranch.”

Note when using a GPS: If your system does not show our location as pictured below, then use GPS coordinates instead (30.188454,-99.274383).  Some GPS systems will not accurately find us using the street address, so please use the coordinates or “Thrill Hill Dr W” as we are at the end of Thrill Hill Dr.

From Austin and points north and east,...

  • Travel to Fredericksburg.

  • In Fredericksburg you have a choice between...

    • proceeding on US 290 to Harper OR

    • connecting to IH 10 at Kerrville via SR 16

From US 290 through Harper...

  • Continue west about 20 miles through Fredericksburg on US 290 and go through the town of Harper.

  • About 4 miles past Harper, turn left onto Ranch Road 479.

  • Proceed on RR 479 for about 8 miles until you are about 200 feet from IH 10 (you can see the Exit 492 crossover).

  • Turn left (east) onto Thrill Hill Road.

  • Go about 2.5 miles to the end of the pavement. You will cross from Kerr County into Gillespie County where the road takes a short right-left jog.

  • At the end of the pavement, there is a country lane to the left. DO NOT TAKE THAT LANE. Go through the opening in the fence and turn left immediately onto UBarU Drive.

  • About 100 feet away is a gate. Drive on in and around a curve to the right to park in front of the Meeting House.

From IH-10 from San Antonio and points east...

  • Proceed to Kerrville via IH 10.

  • Proceed 15.7 miles west of Kerrville on IH 10 to Exit 492. This is Ranch Road 479.

  • Turn right (north) onto RR 479. Go about 200 feet and turn right (east) onto Thrill Hill Road.

  • Go about 2.5 miles to the end of the pavement. You will cross from Kerr County into Gillespie County where the road takes a short right-left jog.
